CoderZ Named 2020 Tech Edvocate Award Winner for Best Coding App or Tool

CoderZ, an online learning environment where students learn robotics and STEM by coding virtual robots, has been named a 2020 Tech Edvocate Award winner in the Best Coding App or Tool category.

“The Tech Edvocate Award represents the combined opinion of industry insiders, knowledgeable educators, and interested parents,” said Ido Yerushalmi, CEO of CoderZ. “It’s an honor to have our coding and robotics curriculum and its game-based design and instructional model chosen as a solution that is positively impacting teaching and learning—and this has never been more important than during this unprecedented time of COVID-19.”

This is the fourth year of the Tech Edvocate Awards, which recognizes outstanding edtech products that support students across the Pre-K-20 sector by catering to identified classroom and learning needs. Winners and finalists were selected by a panel of educators and industry experts who reviewed the submissions and judged the products and services based on the extent to which they are transforming education through the development or advocacy of edtech. A complete list of winners of the 2020 Tech Edvocate Awards can be found here.

Ideal for both students and teachers, CoderZ gives students the opportunity to learn online with engaging, gamified solutions, challenges and competitions. CoderZ enables them to acquire computational thinking, problem solving skills and learn coding as a life skill. The comprehensive CoderZ suite of products includes CoderZ Adventure for elementary students, the Python Gym course for students in grades seven through 12, and the middle school curriculums Cyber Robotics 101 and Cyber Robotics 102.

Additionally, CoderZ and LEGO® Education have collaborated on a CoderZ Adventure Course, featuring a virtual LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robot, that empowers teachers to teach their students the basics of coding and robotics. The online course can be used as a complement to hands-on building activities with a physical LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime set, either before or parallel to the hands-on experience.

Teachers can also register their classes for the all-new CoderZ League: the Virtual Cyber Robotics Competition (orientation starts mid-September but registration is open now) and opt for one of the tournament’s special course bundles to build their students’ coding skills before the opening round.

“Every day, technology innovations transform the way people learn and how educators teach,” said Matthew Lynch, editor of The Edvocate and organizer of the Tech Edvocate awards program. “The last few years, in particular, have seen a surge in investment from both school districts and investors. We are excited to honor these stand-out products that are helping schools navigate these challenges by solving problems and driving innovation.”
